We invest thoughtfully, financially, and ethically in the communities in which we live and work. Our environmental plans are developed in ways compatible with our neighbors’ needs and the local environment.
The companies of the Oldcastle Materials federation have long-term commitments to minimize the impact of extraction during the working lives of our quarries. We maintain a focus on conservation and environmental concerns. Since 2005, Oldcastle Materials, Inc. has been designating property for wildlife habitat projects through a corporate initiative across our US operations. As a member of the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) we now have wildlife habitat sites in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. Habitat projects on these lands, which vary in nature and scope, are corporate-driven cooperative efforts between management, employees, community members, volunteers, local conservation groups and local, state and federal agencies.
The WHC (www.wildlifehc.com) is a nonprofit, group of corporations, conservation organizations, and individuals dedicated to restoring and enhancing wildlife habitats in places where people live, work and play. Created in 1988, WHC helps large landowners, particularly corporations, manage their lands in an ecologically sensitive manner for the benefit of wildlife. The WHC has certified hundreds of programs at corporate facilities through their Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification and International Accreditation Programs.

Many of our quarries have been awarded the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s Environmental Excellence Certificate of Achievement, and we have received NSSGA’s Silver Eagle Environmental Excellence Award at several of our operations.
Oldcastle Materials continuously strives for ongoing achievements in environmental stewardship. Future generations deserve our commitment to the environment.
